An opinion essay Acknowledging the importance of knowing foreign languages these days, we strongly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to spend one year abroad, in order not only to learn the language but also to grow as a person.  Nowadays, the knowledge of foreign languages is a very demanded requirement by businesses. It gives you more chances to get a job, as you are capable to communicate with other people. Being at least a year of your life abroad opens a lot of doors because you are able to learn a new culture and language, also new people, foods, and other lifestyles. In addition, spending a year abroad gives you self-confidence, because when a new skill is mastered, confidence increases. In order to master a new language, conversations with native or fluent speakers are essential, so if you spend a year abroad, you will end up meeting new people and talking to them thus decreasing your shyness.
